Pilates Classes

PilatesPilates is gentle strengthening and toning exercise working in standing and lying that is performed whilst maintaining good posture and deep abdominal muscle work.

Pilates exercises are used by physiotherapists as an exercise approach for people of all ages and levels of fitness. Physiotherapy research has established that anyone who has experienced at least one episode of spinal pain will have weaker abdominal muscles. Without specific exercise rehabilitation, these supportive muscles remain weak, and may cause you to be susceptible to further episodes of pain.

Pilates exercises have been developed to specifically target these muscles. Pilates can help people suffering from any joint pain, arthritis and many more problems. This form of exercise can also benefit those without symptoms by helping tone and strengthen and increase flexibility, therefore improving posture. The exercise targets the deep stabilizing muscles of all your joints.

Venue

The classes are held in the Sheridan studio in Campus West in the centre of Welwyn Garden City.

To find this, enter Campus West at the Rollercity entrance and the reception staff will direct you through.

Parking is available in the large pay car park next door to the Campus West. As the studio is being hired, Campus West is not directly involved in the running of the classes, so please contact Kate directly with any problems or queries you may have.

Times

Classes are held on Tuesdays 11-12 and 12-1pm and Wednesdays 6-7 and 7-8pm

Classes

The classes are run in 6 week blocks, once a week. Due to the small class size, all bookings are taken in advance. The cost is £45 for a 6 week course, and unfortunately refunds will not be possible if a class is missed as it will not be possible to fill spaces at short notice.

In order to participate in the class, you will need to be able to get on and off the floor.
